Minas Morgul (Vitebsk) LINKS: vkontakte.ru/club2034181 www.myspace.com/crossfell1 www.rockgeroy.ru/view/groups/11520.html Minas Morgul was founded by guitarist Helkar and drummer Dwar from the city of Vitebsk in Belarus in 2006. They knew each other from school and had very similar musical interests so that they decided to form a melodic death band. At first the band’s stuff was not constant. The first guy who joined Helkar and Dwar seriously was a bassist Moro. At the beginning of 2007 a new guy joined the band – it was a vocalist Heretic. The next purpose was to record a worthwhile demo tape. No one of the old songs was good enough to be included in the setlist of the upcoming demo, so the band wrote some new material. The songs were different from the ones they had before, they were more aggressive and melodic with technical guitar solos, powerful screaming vocals and Fantasy lyrics. All music was written by Helkar, and the lyrics were created by Dwar. It should be mentioned that all band’s members were a great fans of Tolkien and this is reflected in the lyrics of their songs. Nearly all of them touch the theme of Fantasy worlds or sometimes Scandinavian Heroic epos, creating a wonderful atmosphere. So after the songwriting process the band rehearsed their tracks for three months. Then on August 22-24 Dwar entered the Osmos studio in Minsk to record drums. Guitars, basses and vocals were decided to record in Andrew Shaura’s studio in Vitebsk. The process of recording took some time, because the band was trying to get the best sound they could and made lots of experiments. But at last they get their four track demo tape called Nazgul Attack. During recording the band wrote some new songs. Also a second guitar player was found in a guy called SaJta. Recently a nice keyboard player Vica joined the band as well. Now Minas Morgul members are busy preparing material for the first band’s album and giving lots of live shows.
